Odd Jobs

The forward toerail, hatch, grab rail and deck almost complete.

The anchor chain locker has been started and is heavily everdured in this photo. The windlass will be at the aft end of the foredeck to the left of the hatch and controlled from the helm station. It will also be able to be controlled from a switch by the windlass. The chain locker is also well aft just below the windlass.

Foredeck

Nearly ready for the next layer. 6mm ply. Just have some faring to do first to make the lamination easier to do.

A Change of Scenery.

Starting to cold mould the foredeck, install windlass base and the beginning of the tankage installation.
After the foredeck I will make and install the forward hatch.
The first layer on the foredeck is 9mm meranti ply. Not sure about the next layer. Either 6 or 9mm. Lots of camber. Any comment Gary.

Alaskan Yellow Cedar

Using Alaskan Yellow cedar for all kinds of framing on Spindrift. Cut the end of a dressed bit of 100x50 today and marvelled at the number of grain rings. 92 in 46.7mm. that means (at that rate) for that tree to reach one metre diameter it would be 985 years old. Seems Spindrift was started about the time Maori colonised New Zealand!
The notes on the Rosenfeld Kidson web stated "Sustainably Harvested" Really!
