Stringers and Frame Fairing

Broke the bandsaw blade while ripping 100x50s for stringers so had to go on with other work. Fairing the frames between the first two stringers.

Notching for Stringers

Look no hands. Just one clamp. The multi tool does a great job. I reckon it was invented by boat builders just for notching. Doctors, seeing the advantage then started using it for cutting bones. Could be wrong.

One and a Half Stringers

One and a Half Stringers on. Another half on the floor awaiting glue and clamps. Certainly could do with some more "F" type clamps. Lots of stringers to go yet.

The stem is starting to look like one.

Plumb bob works well from overhead. It matches the string line at the base.

Stringers

Mmmm. We will see how this goes. 100mm wide cedar does not bend on edge easily. Hydraulic jack dealt with it.
The plan is to fit the scarfed planks, join them then glue in place full length. Have to cut these notches another 20mm deeper yet. The three main stringers are 2 x  95 x 20mm planks.

Stringers

Lots of work here. The photos show from this to this. I ripped the planks then put them through the machine. And it's called a thicknesser?!!. More like a thinesser. I have about 5 times this amount to do for stringers.

Transom

Been over a week on the transom. Shaping up well though. The centre square section folds out over the back for a fish table. Garbage will be outside the boat. It is 900 above the cockpit sole so a good working height.

Station #9

"The road goes ever on" as Bilbo Bagging stated. The ninth station is up. Now working on the transom.

Cockpit floor to the transom top is too high at 1200mm. Thinking of a fold down / out of about 250mm. It would also make as suitable fish cleaning table. Assuming there are any left when Spindy is launched that is. Open to other ideas.

After 44 Half Lap Frame & Bulkhead joints

Bulkhead #8. Yes, after 44 half lap frame & bulkhead joints I am starting to see an improvement. Got 12 more to go on bulkheads and transom then more on the cabin.
