First Sheet Glued

Next sheet goes on tomorrow.
Had to use screws to pull this toughie in. Lots of twist. From here on it will be easier, except for its mate on the starboard side.

Fitting the ply to the first chine. Except for the first sheet the ply is located using treenails (Trunnels). The sheet adjacent  to the diagonals has a lit of twist. Brute force and Spanish windlasses pull it into place.
The travelling tackles work well for carrying thes large sheets. I am able on my own to lower them directly over the trunnels before touching the frames. This will be necessary so that I don't scrape the glue off when manoeuvring the sheets. All sheets are off now to trim to size / shape then the gluing starts.

Next Step - Sheet ply

Beginning the next stage. The photo shows the beginning of scarfing 10 sheets of ply for the hull. Then turn it over and cut scarfs on the other end.

Well, some glue has gone to the right place.

Bow Laminations

If I started again I would make narrower planks. Will do so for the second skin. Still, it works out OK. Using a few screws and stapler.

Diagonal Bow Laminations

That looks OK......I think. 150mm strips of 9 mm ply. Just long enough. No need to scarf :)

Fairing the Bottom Chine

Fairing the bottom chine is well under way.
There is a lot of wood on the floor.

More Frames and a Practice Scarf

All the intermediate frames glued in place awaiting scary fairing along with the bottom.

Having a practice scarf with Gary's Gougeon Scarfer. Still have to perfect this before I start the topsides ply. Two skins of 9mm Meranti.

Bottom ply is on.

Next step - adding intermediary frames and fairing then bottom chine. I will pat my own back about the perfect scarfs. Even a prof would be proud.

Sheets Two and Three Glued.

One and a bit sheets of ply to go then some more fairing.
Still need to find a skillsaw that will scarf 9mm ply. The depth of cut needs to be 72mm. A 210mm saw might get away with it.
